Briefing
Bihar lies on the fertile Gangetic plain in eastern India and is historically significant as the seat of the ancient Magadha empire, Nalanda University, and the Buddhist pilgrimage site of Bodh Gaya. Its economy remains largely agrarian, with rice, wheat, and sugarcane as key crops. Following the November 2025 assembly election, the state saw a mid-term change of Chief Minister in April 2026 within the ruling NDA coalition.
