Briefing

Karnataka spans southwestern India from the Arabian Sea coast to the Deccan Plateau, and its capital Bengaluru is widely known as the country's leading information-technology and startup hub. The state's Western Ghats region supports major coffee and spice cultivation, and Karnataka is home to historic sites such as Hampi and Mysuru Palace as well as rich Carnatic and Hindustani music traditions. A change of Chief Minister took place in mid-2026 under a power-sharing arrangement within the ruling Congress party.
